James is a member of BIE's executive leadership team and co-leads the Technology & Transformation Practice.

Working as a client-side adviser, James partners with organisations delivering complex transformation programmes. He helps clients build blended teams that combine experienced transformation professionals with existing internal capability, ensuring knowledge is transferred, change is embedded and organisations retain ownership of long-term outcomes.

He has a proven track record supporting FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 organisations across FMCG, retail, utilities, logistics, transport and manufacturing.

James specialises in technology-enabled transformation, helping clients shape business cases and target operating models before supporting programme mobilisation and delivery. His experience includes:

Post-acquisition integration
ERP and system implementations
Shared Services and Global Business Services (Finance, HR, Procurement and Technology)
Offshoring, Outsourcing and Insourcing
Global process standardisation

James joined BIE in 2014 and has spent his career helping organisations navigate complex transformation programmes and operational change. Known as “Jimbo” to colleagues and friends, James grew up in Scotland before moving south to study Sports Science at Loughborough University. Outside of work, he enjoys keeping fit, playing sport and spending time with his young family. A dedicated Scotland rugby supporter and season ticket holder at Murrayfield, he is still waiting for the day Scotland wins the Six Nations!
