Complex Legislation

The rules regarding employment businesses and the taxation of income deriving from these activities are increasingly complex. The legislation affecting interim managers, and organisations that use their services, is wide-ranging and regularly changes.

Key Advice

Some key areas and further reading are suggested below, but we advise you seek professional advice or email info@bie-executive.com if you are unsure about anything.

  • Intermediaries Legislation (IR35) – HMRC advice on working through an intermediary, such as a Personal Service Company.
  • The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) is the only professional body dedicated to representing the whole of the recruitment industry. You should consider their regulations and governance issues.
  • The Information Commissioner's Office is the UK's independent authority set up to uphold information rights in the public interest, promote openness by public bodies and data privacy for individuals under The Data Protection Act 1998.
  • From 15 December 2007, the Money Laundering Regulations 2007 required certain businesses to have systems in place to prevent money laundering and to report suspicious activity.
